The Eco Hostel in Sammakkoniemi Camping on Linnansaari island is located in the middle of the most beautiful areas of Lake Saimaa. The log huts are surrounded by meadow flowers, bird song and tranquility.
The Eco hostel has 5 cozy log huts. Each hut has two bunk beds (4 places to sleep, matrasses, blankets and pillows), table and benches. There is no electricity in the hut. Pets are welcomed to the huts (no extra fee).
Available only in the summer: May-September
The nature trails start right behind the huts. The trails go through varying landscape, including herb-rich forests and grove-like moist forests. Sammakkoniemi Campsite has a kiosk, a well with drinking water, campfire places, wood-heated stove in the cooking shelter, dry-toilets and wood-heated sauna (bookable in online shop and from the kiosk). In the summer you can rent canoes or buy food for your hiking trip from the kiosk.
Please note that the log huts are located on an island, accessible only by boat or paddling!

On Sammakkoniemi Camping site all the piers, dry toilets, a cooking shelter and a campfire place are accessible by wheelchair. Accessible entrance to the Eco Hostel hut is also available (mention the need of a ramp when making the reservation).
Check-in: from 14.00. Keys can be collected from Oravi or from the kiosk on the island during it’s opening hours (from Midsummer in June to mid-August from 10-18). Other times keys can be collected from the reception in Oravi.
Check-out: at 12.00
Arriving: You can reach the Sammakkoniemi campsite on Linnansaari island by canoe/kayak or boat. There is no land access to the island. Also, no electricity or running water!
– By canoe/kayak: rent a canoe or kayak from Oravi paddling center. From Oravi to the camp ca. 6 km by water. From Oravi you can get instructions and maps to Linnansaari.
– By boat: Regular boat runs from Oravi daily in the summer. At other times you can book a water taxi.
