Linnansaari in Summer

Linnansaari National Park, located in the heart of Lake Haukivesi—part of the greater Lake Saimaa—is Finnish lake nature at its best. With its hundreds of islands and wide open waters, the park is a paradise for water explorers. It’s also home to the endangered Saimaa ringed seal and the majestic osprey—both of which you might spot in their natural habitat.

Linnansaari is perfect for day-trippers, campers, anglers, paddlers, and boaters alike. You can head out on your own or join a guided tour.

Popular guided experiences include seal safaris, kayaking trips, fishing excursions, lake safaris, and boat cruises. Independent visitors can reach the main island of Linnansaari by the scheduled boat service from Oravi.

Linnansaari in Winter

In winter, Linnansaari turns into a magical day trip destination. You can reach the national park by ice skating, kick sledding, skiing, hiking—or even by snowmobile. A marked winter trail leads from Oravi through Linnansaari all the way to Järvisydän.

Winter visitors can enjoy a scenic snowshoe park and, on weekends, a cozy pancake café. Dining and accommodation are available in both Oravi and Järvisydän.

To protect the breeding grounds of the Saimaa ringed seal, all movement within the park is limited to marked winter routes. On the ice, please stay on the official skating and hiking trails, and within Linnansaari, use the designated snowshoe and trekking paths.

Please stick to the routes and help protect the endangered Saimaa ringed seal!
