Linnansaari Nature Trail
The Linnavuori Trail leads hikers through the diverse forests of Linnansaari – from sunlit shoreline rocks to the shady tranquility of lush groves. This circular route culminates in a stunning viewpoint atop Linnavuori Hill, offering sweeping views over the Saimaa archipelago. Along the way, you’ll pass a traditional meadow near the old Linnansaari croft, still maintained through annual mowing.
The trail can be challenging in places, with rocky and root-covered paths and significant elevation changes. A handrailed boardwalk crosses Linnansaari Pond, which can become slippery when wet. The climb to the Linnavuori viewpoint is via metal grate stairs, designed with special steps for dogs.
The trail begins at the well-equipped Sammakkoniemi camping area, where visitor services are also available. About halfway along the route lies the Perpulanluhta camping harbor, offering additional facilities for hikers to rest and recharge.
