• Now one can go tour skating

    The route masters worked hard on the ice all day yesterday and now you can skate! The entire route has been plowed and planed down and is open between Oravi-Linnansaari-Järvisydän. You can use skates (also sticks are are recommended) and kick sledges. The route fee for the skating route is 8 €/adult and 4 €/child 12-16 years old. The traditional cross-country ski track on ice is from Oravi to Linnansaari. Oravi's equipment rental shop and shop are open from 9-17, and for the first time this winter Linnansaari's pancake cafe is also open from 11-15 (card payment is also accepted in the café as long as the card terminal's battery lasts in the cold :D). Starting today, there will also be public sauna in the waterfront sauna in Oravi until the end of March on Saturdays from 15-17. There are separate saunas for men and women. The sauna fee is 7 €/person and can be paid at Oravi's reception. Please bring your own towel. NOTE. On this Sunday, Oravi's equiment rental is open between 10-15.

  • Beautiful winter weather

    The skating route has been plowed once this morning from Oravi to Linnansaari and you can already get there with a kick sledge or a bike. The routemasters will also plan down the route today so that on Saturday, it would hopefully be possible to get on the skating route not only with a kick sledge but also with tour skates. NOTE. We will update the latest ice situation tomorrow first thing in the morning. THE LINNANSAARI PANCAKE CAFÉ IS OPEN SATURDAY BETWEEN 11-15, NO MATTER THE WEATHER :) NOTE. Oravi also has a public sauna and a hole on the ice for winter swimming on Saturday between 15-17. Price is 7€/person, payment to Oravi reception.

  • Waiting for the minus degrees

    The skating route has been plowed from the entire distance between Oravi-Linnansaari-Järvisydän, the surface of the ice is mirror like (couple centimeters of water on the ice), so now we are waiting for minus degrees to freeze the water layer on the ice. To make the skating route as smooth as possible, you must NOT go on the skating route now. You can walk on the winter hiking trail marked with red sticks, put on waterproof shoes.

  • Sub-zero temperatures will return soon

    The snow has been ploughed from the skating route from Oravi to Linnansaari today on Tuesday, but for the few centimeters of water on the ice on the skating route to freeze as evenly as possible, you must NOT go there before it has frozen completely. We will let you know as soon as the skating route is open again. You can walk on the winter hiking trail (along snowmobile track), but it is good to wear waterproof shoes.

  • Skiing day

    Today the best form of exercise is skiing, it's 20 degrees below zero. At 10am we will make a traditional skiing track on the ice from Oravi to Linnansaari (5km/one way). The skating trail from Oravi is not open today. The equipment rental office and the cafe in Oravi are open from 9-17.

  • It's snowing most of the day

    There was heavy snowfall especially yesterday and last night, and although the route masters have removed snow from the skating route from Oravi to Linnansaari today, the route won't stay open now when the snow blows harder. Walking and skiing or cycling on the winter hiking trail is possible.

  • Frost and snow

    It is closer to -25 degrees again, more snow has fallen since the weekend, and according to weather forecasts, it will also be snowing for the following days. The snow from the skating trail from Oravi to Linnansaari has last been removed on Monday and maintenance work continues after the snowfalls. We will let you know when the skating trail is open again. You can walk or ski on the marked winter hiking route on the ice from Oravi to Linnansaari. Oravi's equipment rental office is open from 9 am to 5 pm, and Oravi's cafe offers salty and sweet pastries until 5 pm.

  • The ice route open again on Monday

    It snowed all weekend. The snow was removed from the ice route from Oravi to Linnansaari today. You can go on the ice route by kick spark or bicycle. The walking route is separate.
